Berlin is not only the capital of Germany, it is also a great place to spend your time in spring and summer. It offers many fascinating activities and events to discover the city and history of it. In this article, we want to share some ideas and inspirations of how to enjoy Berlin the right way in these two seasons. The metropolis is full of beautiful parks, exciting events and various places to create memories.
Mauerpark
Do not know what to do on a Sunday afternoon? Then you should take a walk through Berlin’s Mauerpark! Here, you cannot just only enjoy the nature but also visit the flea market next to the park, which offers a wide range of things people want to sell – from records, CDs, clothes, instruments to even bicycles.
Another Highlight in the park is definitely the Open-Air Karaoke. Every Sunday from 3 pm on, you are able to show your singing abilities, playing air guitar or other instruments, as well as showing your best dancing steps. If you prefer it more calm and familiar, you also are able to have a picnic or barbecue with your friends and family on the green meadows full of flowers.
Bürgerpark Pankow
If you are a nature and animals lover in particular, the Bürgerpark Pankow is the right destination for you. Here you can see many sorts of plants and flowers, as well as human-made sculptures. Especially in summer, you are able to visit the park library that offers books, magazines and society games to borrow. If you are more into sports, you can also find a skate park and ping-pong tables in the northern part of the park, or you use the large meadows to play badminton or to do some yoga. The park even includes a small farm with donkeys and goats to feed and interact with, as well as a playground for children.
Karneval der Kulturen
Every year in May, you are able to see and celebrate the Karneval der Kulturen – a colorful festival that demonstrates the diversity, internationality, tolerance and culture of Berlin. Represented through various nations, cultures and ideologies, you can enjoy dance choreographies, acrobatics and music from all over the world. The parade begins in Yorckstraße and Großbeerenstraße and moves east on Gneisenaustraße and Hasenheide towards Hermannsplatz in Neukölln.
CSD – Christopher Street Day
Christopher Street day – better known under its abbreviation CSD. It is the ideal way to demonstrate and to celebrate the diversity and rights of the LGBTQI+ community. No matter what sexuality or gender you identify with, everyone is welcome to participate at the world’s most famous queer event.
Spa Vabali
This place with its idyllic pools is the perfect location to relax and find some calm minutes after a long, hectic day in the capital city. It offers a magical atmosphere like in Bali in its sauna and wellness areas. There are six diverse parkours and 90 barriers to challenge yourself, which can give you the feeling of succeeding.
